Energy Studies Undergraduate Scholarships at Murdoch University

Information Sheet

  1. The Energy Studies Scholarships are available for award to students who intend to study the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Energy Management full-time in 2009 and who have completed the TEE since (and including) 2004.
  2. The value of each scholarship is up to $4,000, payable in annual sums as outlined below, subject to a high level of performance as a Scholarship Holder in the Energy Studies Program.
First Year Second Year Third Year Honours
    $1000 $1000 $1000 $1000
  3. The scholarships are sponsored by the Energy Studies staff and shall be awarded by Murdoch University on the advice of the Energy Studies Scholarship selection panel.
  4. Each scholarship shall be available to the successful applicant upon enrolling full-time, in first semester 2009, in the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Energy Management program at Murdoch University. The first year's payment will be presented to the successful applicant at a ceremony early in first semester 2009.
  5. TEE results will not be the only criterion considered when determining the scholarship winners, although a minimum Tertiary Entrance Rank of 90 will be normally required. The selection panel will be particularly interested in the applicant's motivation, focus, initiative and approach. Additionally applicants must have a sincere desire to pursue a Energy Studies degree at Murdoch University. Applicants should attach a short statement of no more than 2 paragraphs stating why they wish to pursue a career in Energy Studies.
  6. The selection procedure will be carried out in October 2008, after which students will be notified in writing of whether they have been short-listed. To remain eligible for award of the scholarship, students who are short-listed must nominate the Murdoch University Energy Studies Program or double degree as their first preference on their TISC application.
  7. All short-listed applicants are asked to phone or fax Murdoch University Office of Energy Studies as soon as they receive their TER rank. The successful recipients of the scholarships will be notified immediately, allowing the opportunity for unsuccessful applicants to make a change of preference if desired.
  8. The University reserves the right not to award any scholarship, if there is no suitable applicant.
  9. The scholarship may be terminated by the University if the academic progress of the scholarship holder is deemed to be below a high level of performance, or if the holder ceases to study full-time the Energy Studies Program as the first program in their degree. A student whose scholarship is terminated during the course of any academic year may be asked to repay the pro-rata value of the scholarship.
