Minor in Energy Studies
Minors are very useful in broadening your qualifications and increasing your employment opportunities. Energy Studies is a rapidly expanding area with many exciting job prospects. A minor must contain at least 11 credit points chosen from a particular area approved by the University. Minors are recorded on the official University transcript and academic record of the student. Students wishing to complete a Minor in Energy Studies must complete
PEC292 Energy in Society and at least
7 points selected from the following, with due consideration to prerequisites.
It is recommended that students with an interest in the technical aspects of energy studies should take PEC292 and two of PEC294, PEC390, PEC370, or PEC287, while students with an interest in the social and economic aspects of energy should take PEC292 and two units from PEC391, PEC393, PEC287, PEC311 or PEC332. PEC396 allows a student to pursue a short project in an area of Energy Studies of interest to them, that is not covered by the Energy Studies core units. This unit is then taken in the last semester of a degree and must be done in consultation with the Program Chair. Students who have completed a minor in Energy Studies, and also meet the University's academic requirements for entry to Honours, are eligible to proceed to Honours in Energy Studies. This can lead to the Master of Science in Renewable Energy or a Research Degree (MPhil or PhD) in Energy Studies. Check the handbook for updates. |
